Mark Johnson is the managing member of Rimcrest Consulting LLC, a consultancy dedicated to
providing ethics, compliance and anti-fraud expertise to the financial services, high tech and e-
learning industries. In addition he published a book on leadership and created a podcast
focused on leadership, compliance and expert guidance on a number of business topics.
Prior to Rimcrest Consulting, Johnson directed the Ethics and Compliance program at Zovio Inc.
(formerly Bridgepoint Education), a higher education system better known as an online program
manager. His responsibilities include compliance training, monitoring and enforcement, special
investigations, privacy, and oversight of compliance with state and federal laws. Johnson joined
Zovio in 2012. Prior to this, he directed the ethics and compliance functions at all CNO Financial
Group (formerly Conseco) locations, including Bankers Life and Casualty Company, and
Colonial Penn Life Insurance Company. Johnson joined Conseco in 2007 from GE Insurance
Solutions, where he served as compliance officer for three years and as interim general counsel
during his last year with the company. Johnson also worked for five years with Swiss Re
(formerly known as Lincoln Re) in various compliance and strategic project roles, and at Anthem
Blue Cross Blue Shield as a director of operations.
Johnson is a graduate of Brigham Young University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in
microbiology and a master’s degree in health administration. He earned his Juris Doctorate
(J.D.) from Indiana University School of Law. He is also a Certified Compliance and Ethics
Professional and a past president of the FBI San Diego Citizens Academy Alumni Association.
